Calexico Municipal Employees Association affiliate with SEIU Local 221

Calexico— The Calexico Municipal Employees Association (CMEA) has affiliated with SEIU Local 221. CMEA represents City of Calexico employees from all city departments.

SEIU Local 221 represents over 10,000 public service workers in San Diego and Imperial Counties, and has many city workers as members.

“SEIU Local 221 and CMEA are a natural fit,” SEIU Local 221 President Sharon-Frances Moore said. “We have experience representing city employees and understand their unique needs in the workplace.”

More resources for better contracts and stopping favoritism were reasons sited by CMEA for the affiliation with SEIU.

CMEA organized in 1998 and consists of four officers and six board members, representing a total of 88 employees. The current CMEA President is Armando Alvarez.
