Sharon-Frances Moore joined Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 221 as president in March of 2007. Ms. Moore has a long history of fighting for the issues that matter to working people.

Prior to becoming the president of SEIU Local 221, Ms. Moore led the Tribeca Organization, a federally mandated short-term non-profit 9/11 recovery effort. The Tribeca Organization was a flow-through agency in charge of distributing the federal, state and private aid it received, creating programs to rebuild infrastructure in the areas devastated by the attack, and supporting residents and businesses as they struggled to recover in the aftermath of the disaster. As leader of the Tribeca Organization, Ms. Moore worked with unions, government entities, first responders, and city employees to address employment and long-term health issues directly related to the 9/11 disaster.

Prior to leading the Tribeca Organization, Ms. Moore served as Senior Advisor to the CEO of the Girl Scouts of the USA, an organization that has approximately 1.5 million members and several thousand paid and volunteer staff, including garment workers, bakers and other manufacturing workers. In her role as a Senior Advisor, Ms. Moore served as a liaison to local Girl Scout councils, unions, high-level government officials, and non-profit organizations.

Ms. Moore has worked as a Corporate Litigation Manager where she supervised all litigation and litigation attorneys from Maine to Washington, D.C. Ms. Moore has also served as the Director of Community Affairs for a United States Senator where she concentrated on working family issues. Working for the Senator, Ms. Moore helped write legislation that gave support to working families and children.

Ms. Moore has extensive political experience and has worked on two presidential campaigns and a gubernatorial race.

She is a graduate of New York Law School and the University of Maryland.
