By joining with Local 221, Probation Officers are united with community members to set the highest standards for public safety including:

 Adequate staffing levels so we can monitor probationers and enforce Court Orders; 

 Good wages and benefits that will help recruit and retain quality staff;

 The tools and training needed to deliver public safety you can count on.

Since affiliating with SEIU, we have seen a steady increase in our wages, including our most recent win of an 18% increase spread out over the life of our current five-year contract.  With SEIU, we have also made significant strides in improving our health and retirement benefits.  In particular, joining with SEIU helped Probation Officers receive Safety Retirement in addition to our 3% at 50 years of age retirement formula.  Also, in the current contract, POA, with SEIU’s assistance, was able to secure increased employer health insurance contributions.
