SEIU Local 221 Labor and Community Partnerships

SEIU Local 221 has several Labor and Community Partners that fight for the issues that impact working families. Our partnering organizations are non-partisan and do not discriminate. Here are a few of our partners:

ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform NowACORN is the nation's largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, working together for social justice and stronger community. ACORN's accomplishments include: successful campaigns for better housing, schools, neighborhood safety, health care and job conditions.

American Cancer Society of San DiegoThe American Cancer Society is the nation-wide, community-based, voluntary  health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. They work to prevent cancer, save lives and diminish suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service. The Center on Policy Initiatives (CPI)CPI is a non-profit research and advocacy organization formed in 1997 to address issues affecting working people in the San Diego region. They conduct research, build coalitions and advocate for a fair economy in which economic opportunities are accessible to all and no one who works lives in poverty.

Girl Scouts of San Diego and Imperial CountiesYou can help today's Girl Scouts become tomorrow's leaders! In Girl Scouts, girls discover fun and friendship. Through a variety of enriching experiences, girls grow courageous and strong. Whatever the activity, the Girl Scout program provides a solid foundation upon which girls can build their future in a safe, nurturing environment. SEIU Local 221 encourages our members and their daughters to get involved in the Girl Scouts of San Diego and Imperial Counties.

MAAC ProjectThe MAAC Project is a multi-purpose social service agency with a successful 41 year history of serving various communities throughout San Diego County. Employing over 300 personnel, MAAC staffs 35 sites bringing to its constituents empowering social services, health components, a state of arts charter school, technology centers, economic development, affordable housing and building community. MAAC maintains and continues to instill in every program under its umbrella the object of its mission; the achievement of self-esteem and self-sufficiency.

San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor CouncilThe San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council is the local chapter of the California Federation of Labor and it allows affiliated unions in San Diego and Imperial Counties to come together as a unified group. Essentially, it is a union of unions or a chamber of commerce of businesses banding together to protect our common goals.
