Letter from SEIU Local 221 President Sharon-Frances Moore

Dear SEIU Local 221 Member,

When I became the President of SEIU Local 221, one of my priorities was to create a culture that embraces the diverse values of our members.

Through numerous member meetings, the collective vision of Local 221 came into focus with members valuing the same basic principles, regardless of party identity or affiliation. Members wanted better wages, a secure retirement, accountability from their union and elected officials, and healthcare for their families.

Additionally, I assessed that all members wanted a voice in their union and felt that our political program at Local 221 could be more inclusive. With this in mind, we established the GOP Advisory Council (GOPAC). GOPAC will provide Republican members an avenue to have an active role in our union. Local 221 is one of the first in the nation to establish a GOP council.

Now, we have planned a GOPAC kick-off event to introduce the council to our members and expand its membership. This is an opportunity for members to learn about GOPAC and meet Republican elected officials that have been endorsed by Local 221.

I hope you will join us in being a part of this groundbreaking event. I look forward to seeing you at our March 20th GOPAC inaugural celebration.

Sincerely,

Sharon-Frances Moore

President
