July 20 Bargaining Update

For months we fought and got lots of bad language taken off the table. Every time we acted AS A UNION, we won concessions from management.

On Wednesday we received a "last, best and final" offer from the County that differs from the proposals we've been discussing recently. Your Bargaining Team is carefully considering the impact of this new offer on all affected SEIU 221 members and bargaining units and will decide on Monday, July 25, whether to sign a Tentative Agreement and take it to the membership for a ratification vote.

Every member will have an opportunity to vote on the proposal.

** If you're not a member of SEIU 221, sign up now so you will have the right to vote on the agreement. **

* RALLY POSTPONED: The Saturday, July 23, rally is postponed while the Bargaining Team studies the offer. *

TERMS OF THE COUNTY'S "LAST, BEST & FINAL" OFFER:

  • 2-year contract
  • 4% cut to pension offset (2% each year)
  • 5% increase in health care flex spending each year (10% total increase)
  • $750 bonus (Year 1), Bonus 1% of base pay (Year 2)
