July 21 Bargaining Update
Clarification of the terms of the County's "last, best & final" offer
We received a Last, Best, and Final Offer from the County on Wednesday. Since then, we have heard from our members there has been some confusion on the County’s proposal. In an effort to clear up all confusion, we are issuing this clarifying communication and will continue to work to ensure all members understand the choices we have in front of us.
The County’s offer was conditional and included 2 parts. Currently, your bargaining team has chosen
not to consider Option A and is carefully considering the impact of Option B on all affected SEIU 221 members and bargaining units. Option B must be tentatively agreed to by Monday, July 25, and ratified by our members by August 25.
On July 25 the bargaining team will decide whether or not to tentatively agree to Option B and take it out to a vote of the membership.
Every member will have an opportunity to vote on the proposal.
** If you’re not a member of SEIU 221, sign up now so you will have the right to vote on the agreement. **
If we do not ratify, the County has the option to impose terms and
conditions for up to one year. Our attorney is currently reviewing the
offer and will advise us shortly as to potential terms and conditions
under an imposition.
RALLY POSTPONED: The Saturday, July 23, rally is postponed while the Bargaining Team studies the offer.
