SEIU Announces Endorsements in SD City & County Races

On March 18, 2013, the members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) announced their endorsement for the following races in San Diego County:

  • Jim Wood for Board of Supervisor, District#5
  • Robert Brewer for San Diego District Attorney
  • Sarah Boot for San Diego City Council District#2
  • Carol Kim San Diego City Council District#6

SEIU also announced support for Yes on Prop B & C (Barrio Logan Community Plan)

“We are proud to support candidates we can count on to put our community first and ensure our public employees are treated with respect and dignity. We will be working tirelessly to ensure that they are elected in 2014. ” – David Garcias, SEIU Local 221 President.

SEIU’s endorsements are made in a town hall process in which members evaluate candidates’ policy positions, listen to them speak, interview them, and then make their recommendations. The town halls are open to all members in each district.

SEIU Endorses Salas, Aguilar and Padilla in Chula Vista Races

On December 18, 2013, the members of the Service Employees International Union announced their endorsement for the 2014 Mayor and City Council races in Chula Vista.  The following candidates were endorsed:

  • Mayor:  Current Council Member Mary Salas
  • Council Seat #1:  Former Mayor and Council Member Steve Padilla
  • Council Seat #2:  Incumbent Council Member Pat Aguilar
