The 2007 SEIU California Organizing Report

SEIU is working hard to bring the benefits of union membership to unorganized workers across California. You can read about what has been going on around the state in the California Organizing report, including SEIU Local 221.
In 2007, we launched a focused effort to talk to other public employee associations in San Diego and Imperial Counties who were not already part of a union to think about joining SEIU Local 221. Successful campaigns in Imperial County, like the City of Calexico illustrates to other associations the benefits of being apart of a union with increased resources for bargaining, politics, research and communications. We expect these first round of affiliation victories will create momentum for more associations to truely being apart of Local 221, like we are now seeing at the City of Chula Vista and County of Imperial.
