NHA Update

The Federal Administration for Children & Families (ACF) has issued a letter ordering Neighborhood House Association (NHA) Head Start centers to immediately remedy program deficiencies related to the health and safety of the children they serve. If NHA fails to meet the requirements outlined by the ACF, the organization could lose their certificate to administer Head Start programs.

SEIU Local 221 is currently assessing the situation to determine what role our union can play in keeping the Head Start centers open for our community and workers. We are working to find a way to help the Head Start workers we represent and the children they serve during this time of crisis at Neighborhood House Association.

As the union that represents NHA Head Start workers, we urge NHA to promptly address these issues for the sake of our community and our workers.

If you are a NHA Head Start worker and have questions about the crisis at NHA, please contact Worksite Organizer Hershel Strother at 858-560-0151 x266 or hershel.strother@seiu221.org.
