‘I vote for candidates who fight for families like mine’

Human Services Specialist and SEIU Local 221 member Tiare Hamilton spoke at the San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council rally Tuesday to get out the vote.

“For six years I’ve helped people, throughout the county, see if they’re eligible to receive food stamps, homeless resources, medical care and financial aid assistance,” she said. “But in 2018, while working for the county, my family fell on hard times. We became homeless. …

“We applied for county assistance – but the county wouldn’t help. They told us there was no funding – because they didn’t budget enough to help every family in need. That has to change. We only survived with the help of our union. …

“We have a lot on the line this election day – that’s why I vote for candidates who fight for families like mine.”
