The resolutions to be voted on at the General Membership Meeting are now ready for review. In total, 21 resolutions were submitted for review this year. Thirteen of those 21 were determined in conflict with either the SEIU 221 Constitution and Bylaws or applicable law. The remaining eight resolutions have been determined constitutional and legally compliant, and therefore will be submitted for a vote of all members in attendance at the General Membership Meeting on December 2, 2017 at 10 am. On Tuesday, Nov. 28, members of the Imperial County courts overwhelmingly voted to join SEIU Local 221. As a united union, we strengthen members’ voices in the workplace to solve problems, raise workplace standards, and improve their working lives. Workers across the region can coordinate and support each other on common issues like wages, pensions, health care, retiree benefits, and staffing. And we will be able to combine and share resources so that we can strengthen our communications and education programs, improve our technology systems, and help many unrepresented workers join with us. We are part of the Service Employees International Union, which represents nearly 2 million members, all united in our commitment to good jobs and a better future for all working families.
