On Thursday April 27, the Local 221/Invest in San Diego Families (ISDF) bargaining team presented its primary wage increase proposal to San Diego County’s representatives. The proposal calls for employees to get the same 6.25% wage increase per year that the Board of Supervisors gave themselves earlier this year. The Supervisors justified their own raises by stating that they should be second only to Los Angeles, our proposal adopts the same premise. Going forward we propose that San Diego County Employees be compensated in the top third of the 6 comparable counties in our region.
In addition, the researchers at the Union have prepared well over 100 equity – more than have ever been done in our history – comparing compensation in San Diego to Southern California counties. We will be presenting additional proposals to address inequities at the next bargaining session. We’ll be presenting these proposals next Thursday, May 4.
